Xcel Files 2007 Resource PLan with the Colorado Public Utilities Commission November 15, 2007, Xcel filed its Resource Plan with the Colorado Public Utilities Commission. This plan outlines the energy resources needed for the utility to meet customers’ electricity demands through the year 2015.  Xcel says this strategy represents a significant shift in the way they do business. The Resource Plan for Colorado includes a strong focus on clean energy technologies that reduce greenhouse gas emissions and calls for reducing carbon-dioxide emissions by 10 percent from 2005 levels by 2017. Xcel Plant Faces Obstacle
Denver Post, October 16: The Colorado Court of Appeals will hear oral arguments today in a case aimed at stopping construction of Xcel Energy's controversial Comanche 3 coal-fired power plant in Pueblo.
A pair of environmental-activist groups have raised several issues in appealing a district court's ruling against their 2005 lawsuit that sought to overturn an air permit granted to Xcel for the $1.3 billion plant. More

New York Subpoenas Five Energy Companies
September Attorney General Andrew M. Cuomo of New York opened an investigation of five large energy companies, questioning whether their plans to build coal-fired power plants pose undisclosed financial risks that their investors should know about. Mr. Cuomo, using the same state securities law wielded by his predecessor, Gov. Eliot Spitzer, to investigate corruption on Wall Street, sent subpoenasto the top executives of the five companies, seeking internal documents. The companies, which have projects in various states, are AES Corporation, Dominion, Dynegy, Peabody Energy and Xcel Energy. The Denver Post interviewed Leslie Glustrom about the story. More
