April 14th Step it Up

We are organizing a global  warming protest rally on April 14th here in  Boulder. Our April 14th rally will  be just one of hundreds of actions (642 total so far and counting) that will  happen that day nationwide. The larger organizing effort is being spearheaded  by Bill McKibben, writer and environmentalist, (see www.stepitup2007.org) with the express  purpose of drawing attention to the global warming issue and to demand that  carbon emissions are reduced by 80% from 1990 levels by 2050.

Rally Walking  Route: People will gather initially at  Scott  Carpenter  Park at 11 AM. We encourage everyone to arrive there by bus, foot  or bicycle. We will walk in a
large group with banners and  costumes down Boulder Creek Bike Path.  We will turn off the bike path  and head west on the Pearl Street Mall on  13th street.
From the west end of the Pearl  Street Mall, we will head south to the  Boulder Public Library.
We will walk on the bike path  to the Bandshell, where we will listen to a few statements and  speeches from designated  scientists and politicians.
